When Ségolène Royal announced her candidacy for the French prsidential elections, the old guys of the party reacted like real machos. Who the hel does she think to be, young, woman, pretty. The reactions wre close to sexual discrimination.
But she won the primaries. And reluctantly they had to show support. Such a light support she could never win.
Since then, the old boys club made her the target of all criticism, just to ger her out of their way, of what they consider their right to lead the party.
And yesterday the Socialist party members, contrary to all expectations, gave her 30%of the preferences while the old boys (and one girl) all got less.
Now they try alliances to get her out of the way to become the Party Secretary. And they will succeed even if the party members have voted for her as a preferred leader.
No matter what, bravo Ségolène. You made it when nobody expetced you. The old boys will put you aide but you know that the majority of the party and people are with you. And the old guys, are old, you are young and smarter.
