Muslim Egypt and Berlusconi's Italy

Pictures: Copt killed in Egypt in 2000 and riots in Calabria in 2010

The incidents that occurred last week in Calabria between local populations and immigrants is only the tip of the iceberg of the dramatic situation of Italy, created and amplified by Berlusconi , his and television political.

Now the locals claim that they are not racists.

But everybody , the locals first, knew that legal and illegal immigrants were exploited like slaves, paid 1€ per hour, forced to buy in certain shops, paying incredible rents for slums where the locals themselves would not even put their livestock. The local authorities knew it, because without the immigrants, the local economy, mostly agriculture based, could not operate. The police authorities knew, how could they not ? There were thousand, black, tanned, living in well known places. Even the district attorneys did know it. And of course the Church knew it.

But nobody did anything to stop this modern slavery. The Pope should be ashamed and shut up, instead of calling for peace, condemning violence (by the immigrants of course…) and, now, exploitation.

And the Prime Minister, the excellent Mr. Berlusconi, did not even say a word about those incidents. To spouse the Pope’s crocodile tears, he would put off his racist allies of the Northern League. To spouse the Northern League approach (it’s the fault of the immigrants) , he would put of the bishops….So he spoke about the judges, about lowering taxes, and changing his mind within 24 hours. But not about the most serious racial incidents that have occurred in Italy since the end of fascism.

What happened had been in the making for years, with the consent of all authorities and local populations.

Regrettably, apart from the Pope, nobody in the world expressed his concerns about such incidents. Nobody but the Egyptian Minister for Foreign Affairs. Enough to worsen the situation. How can Egypt complain when the authorities harass, discriminate, oppress the Coptic population ? When a few days before the incidents in Italy,8 Copts had been killed by Islamic fundamentalists in Southern Egypt ?

And regrettably, I must agree with Mr. Bossi, the leader of the Northern League who said that at least in Italy we do not kill the immigrants while in Egypt they kill Christians. An idiot Egyptian Minister for Foreign Affairs who contributes to worsen the situation in Italy.

When will the USA and Europe dump Mubarak’s régime ?
