MAFIA'S REAL ALLIES

The many connections of Berlusconi with Mafiosi are well known, including with people already condemned for mafia crimes or support.

The myth that Mafia and Co is only in the South of Italy, claimed by the PDL, Berlusconi’s party, and the Northern League is dismissed daily by arrests, indictments etc. in norhern cities controlled by the Bossi/Berlusconi  right wing coalition.

The support for Mafia indicted by these two leaders and parties was confirmed last week with their refusal to allow the arrest requested by the judges of Mr. Cosentino, indicted for Mafia for the third time, former vice-minister in Berlusconi’s last government and current formal leader of the PDL in the Campania region.

Yesterday another confirmation of such support.

Roberto Saviano, the author who so eloquently described how the Ndrangheta (Naples’ mafia) operates and who is now obliged to be protected by the police, was being given the honorary citizenship of Milan, a decision taken by the former Mayor, Moratti who was the major of the PDL and the Northern league.

And the Northern League and the PDL deserted the ceremony…

Idiots XXII : Coglione I°

There was a government in Italy.

It was supported by two parties, the so called PDL (Freedom Party led by a certain Berlusconi surrounded by corrupt and Mafiosi people) and the Lega Nord (Northern league led by an Idiot called Bossi surrounded by ignorant idiots).
In three years they managed to do nothing but laws to protect Berlusconi from being prosecuted and, as a compensation to Bossi and his troops, laws that would give more autonomy to the local administration of the Northern regions of Italy but de facto increased taxes.

Berlusconi used to fly State planes to go on holiday to his resort in Sardinia, taking with him, at taxpayers expenses, prostitutes and other courtesans.

Berlusconi used to arrange for red lights parties at home (nothing wrong, he is an adult) and girls and prostitutes  used to be carried around by official cars sometimes escorted by the Police. At taxpayers costs of course.

During Berlusconi’s/Northern League time, a General used an army plane to carry fresh fish to a mountain resort where he was hosting a private party.

The opposition complained judges started investigations but nobody in the Freedom Party nor in the Northern league ever raised any objections to such behavior, on the contrary, the General was elected MP in Berlusconi’s party. They defined the judges as  “communists” acting to overturn the Government.

Early January, a distinguished “coglione”, former Minister (yes) of Berlusconi’s government and one of the main leaders of the Northern League, a certain Calderoli, asked in the press about a party the current Prime Minister, Mr. Monti,  would have hosted in his residence for the 31^st of December and who had paid for the costs. Regrettably he had never asked such questions with the former Prime Minister.

Monti gave a detailed explanation: the party was for his family who had traveled by train and stayed in an hotel at its own expenses. The food had been bought and cooked by his wife and the menu and the list of shops where she had bought the stuff was also provided.

It is sufficient to look at Calderoli’s face to see that he is not brilliant. But it is shameful that we had such a Coglione as Minister with a high salary paid by the few taxpayers you have in Italy. Calderoli gets the prize for the first Coglione of the year.

Could these virile Northern League activists be GAY ?

The Northern League, a longtime ally of Berlusconi and co-responsible of the mess Italy is in, is the pure example of the ignorance prevailing in Italy mostly thanks to Berlusconi's televisions and educational (or better non educational) policies.

But they always claimed to be real MEN to the point that one of the main slogans of the leader has been "noi ce l'abbiamo duro" (we have it hard) indicative of the low IQ of the guy. If he is the leader, imagine the others....

But are Gays virile enough to be part of the Northern League?

Mr. Gobbo, Northern League major of Treviso, a little city in northern Italy, does not think so: "(...) I may not like the concept of a gay man, but everybody can have his identity." However he added that he "does not believe that a Gay could become the party leader due to the historic characteristic of virility of the League. (...) It would be against the history of the League."

I doubt any gay would ever have thought of joining the Northern Leagues, but now they know that they would not have there any political career prospect!

SILENT DEPRESSION

One and half-month of absence from my blog, too depressed after the last Italian Regional elections to even think to access it.

Indeed, Berlusconi's party lost some votes but these were gained by the Northern League which is worse.

And the left is still absent, incapable of coming up with an alternative. Still too much idealist versus parties without any philosophy but just riding on the lowest instincts of Italian males and abusing of the religiosity of Italian women.

I have piles of notes I wanted to write about. May-be one day.

Now time to get back to normal cruise speed...The resistance must continue

WASH YOUR HAND, YOU TOUCHED A NEGRO

In Arezzo, a city in the center of Italy, members of the Northern League distribute soap in the streets for people to wash their hands after touching an immigrant.

The Northern League is a Government party, aims at being the first party in some regions at the next regional elections (it is already in some areas).

Will Berlusconi say anything about this ? will the Church, whose Pope recently received the Northern League leaders say anything ? will the Italian Church still accept the Northern League statements that they are the only real Christian party defending the Christian values ? or will, as it is likely, keep silent in order to obtain more privileges after the elections ?

In 1960, I was 14, I did my first demonstration, against Apartheid in South Africa. My son is mixed blood, so is my grand-child. What should I tell them ? leave Italy before it is too late ?

What the Northern League is doing is no different from what the fascists did with Jews. Will they stop complaining about the past and stand up to defend those who are “different” ?

This is Berlusconi’s Italy. Please, you who may read, help us getting read of fascism. We need your help.

A baby sitter state

The Independent, in an article dated 18 August, states that a “tempest” of new laws and rules are making Italy “the greatest baby-sitter state” with citizens considered as babies to control and protect.

The author, Peter Popham, shows a better understanding of Italy than his colleague, Italian…of Newsweek.

Indeed, Berlusconi won the elections due to the total lack of communication strategy of the Prodi’s government and also sailing on security: against immigrants, illegal and legal who are however essential to the economy -most are employed by good Italians…who complain, against rapes committed by immigrants while there is more local violence, who want “cleaner” cities and forget the real criminality, the Mafia.

Even the Catholic magazine for excellence, Famiglia Cristiana, the weekly with the largest distribution in Italy (one million copies per week), wrote about the risks of fascism in view of the laws promulgated by the Lega North interior Minister with the blessing of Berlusconi. And they were defined “crypto communists” by Government officials.

Increasing police power is given to majors who are incompetent in this area and take all kind of stupid measures, especially in the areas controlled by the Lega Nord and in Rome, with a hard neo-fascist major. And the Minister of Interior tries to undermine in this way the role and authority of “prefetti”, the government representatives in the field, who report to him. Competent, trained, devoted to the State. Contrary to the lord majors devoted to their local little interests for their re-election.

The Independent points out that Berlusconi claims that he will simplify the governance of Italy, and created a Ministry for that, while he allows his interior Minister to pass decrees that on the contrary increase rules, local laws, decrees that make a mess of the situation. Soon one, before entering a city will have to stop for ten minutes to read panels listing all what is forbidden…. Making me regret the simple posters in Louisiana and Mississippi, for example, reminding citizen that it is forbidden to carry fire arms on the beach or on university campuses.

It is interesting to read what Peter Pohpman* wrote about his article that made the Italian Press and politicians cry wolf: “(…) many years ago I got in love with Italy (…) discovering a country that merged elegance and freedom, beautiful natural sceneries and beautiful art created by man, tolerance a tradition of informal ways of living, the clear result of an ancient civilization, (apparently) mature. If now, on the Independent I talk about the many new laws promulgated in Italy to ban informality and limit freedom, it is because I am very sad in noticing that in this way civilization id regressing, substituted by the big shoes and rifles of a police state.(…). Berlusconi took power thanks to “the security emergency” But the real security emergency is and existential emergency, which lives in the mind of people when it reacts in a panic mode to a world that is suddenly changing. Italy has many serious social problems, but instead of looking for long term solutions (…), those who have the power promulgate hundreds of laws and rules little thought of aiming at giving the impression that they take concrete steps and puts the army in the streets. (…) In Italy, like in the UK, the true victims of a police state are the citizens”.

He said it all.

Miracle ? no sir, yu’re wrong

Newsweek, in a surprising article dated 89 August, talk about miracles allegedly made by Berlusconi during his first 100 days in power (this time…).

But, apart from the “emblematic” cleaning of garbage in Naples, I already commented favorably myself sharing the however the questions mark of the author, all what he quotes has nothing of a miracle.

A law to protect himself from well advanced judicial trials cannot be a miracle. Attempting to destroy the judicial system for his own personal interests is not a miracle, is danger for democracy, everywhere, including in Pakistan. But the author does not mention it.

Putting 3000 soldiers in the streets (about 700 at any point in time) when Italy already has more than 400,000 police and other security personnel is pure bullshit. Useful as propaganda but diverting the attention to small larceny while the plague is the real crime, the Mafia, the N’drangheta, the Camorra who increase daily their grip on Italian economy recycling their capitals.

As the Independent recently pointed out, Berlusconi is destroying the state thanks to the Lega Nord Ministers who give more and more power to unprepared lord mayors on security matters and more funds to the rich regions sinking even more the corrupt South thanks also to the absolute absence of the neo-fascist former Alleanza Nazionale too keen to stay in power and unable to face the blackmail of the Lega Nord essential for them to stay in power: suppressing a tax that was the main source of income for a the all municipalities without knowing how to compensate the lack of resources; dealing with his own legal problems instead of giving priority to the economy which is collapsing; staying silent on Georgia (he phoned his friend Putin, the same one he had once declared that he is a “real democrat”…)

In spite of the title of the article and six long paragraphs praising Berlusconi, the author, a certain Jacopo Barigazzi, ends it with these two sentences: “Italians like him (Berlusconi) now, but what they really want is economic stability. Cleaning up trash and harassing immigrants won't be enough.” So why such a title?

Verona Caput Fasci

“Verona, the capital of fascism” is the title of a show written and acted by Elio Germano, a young successful Italian actor.

Why Verona ? Because Verona is “the” special town in Italy, the most representative of the Berlusconi’s regime, where the Lega Nord and Alleanza Nazionale (the fascist party) have the power. Daily one reads about racist and fascists type decisions be the municipality.And this has been going on for years. As an example, in 1995, case unique in Europe, the City Council voted a resolution against a decision by the Council of Europe on homosexuality declaring it as “against nature” (sic). Verona is also the city where recently fascist militants killed a youg man who had refused them a cigarette and was guilty of having long hair.

So what Germano did was to read the minutes of meetings of the City Council over the past 10 years. He extracted statements made by the center right majority and put them together verbatim. Here are some excerpts from the show, all real statements made by the Verona’s city governance:

About gays : “they must ler surgeons deal with their attributes so that everybody will be safer”

About abortion : “they had to think at it when they opened their legs”

About women’s equality : “women must go back to their nature, which is that of all animals”

About gays: “we should cut them the balls”

About homosexuality: “ it is the same as pedophilia”

No wonder that Famiglia Cristiana, the most read Italian Magazine is concerned about the rise of fascism in Italy.

Bluff

Alitalia's workers strike

Everybody has heard about the bankruptcy of Alitalia. When Air France made proposal to buy it, early 2008, it did foresee 2,000 lay-offs.

But the pilots trade unions, traditionally aligned with the right parties, refused the agreement. Berlusconi announced that there were plenty of Italian entrepreneurs ready to chip in to save the national carrier. They were to make an offer shortly. And his allies, especially the Northern League, demonstrated to maintain the operations at Milan’s airport and to keep an Italian carrier. So Air France withdrew.

Five months later and four months after becoming Prime Minister, no trace of Italian investors. And the plan prepared by a bank to rescue what could announces 5,000 lay-offs.

A great success by a great entrepreneur who will try to convince the stupid Italians that he rescued Alitalia and Italian jobs. A bluff, as usual but he controls the media…so ?

Idiots

In his wisdom, or more likely since he could not finish well his work in seven days only, God created idiots and distributed them all around the world without giving any preferential treatment to any country. All got many. Here is the beginning of a listing of the most significant representatives of such a class:

Madagascar

The French Ambassador had to quite after five months of boycott by the Malagashi president. His fault ? Being in Congo when the former president was assassinated and in Ivory Coast when there was a coup d’état. The Malagashi president is very superstitious and was afraid the “evil eye” of the Ambassador could impact his presidency. We are in 2008, the EU and other rich countries finance Madagascar and……this is the result.

Italy

The Italian Northern League in Bergamo, well known for its leader Umberto Bossi and for its reactionary positions, wants to forbid the opening in the city of a kebab shop since it is “inconsistent with the socio-economic structure of the city”. Similar measures are being requested for “fast-food, pizzas sold by the slice, Chinese restaurants and sex shops. (No sex, we are from the Northern League....) But this is good. Let them continue digging their own grave.

Logic

Mr. Bossi, a key partner of Mr. Berlusconi, is among others very negative about immigration. And what is funny, (or indicative of Italian politics) is that his constituency is composed by small business owners in Northern Italy who depend upon immigrants (often illegal to pay them less) to continue producing and exporting.

Mr Bossi divorced his first wife, which is a sin for the catholic church, and lives with a second wife. But he is one of the active supporters of the "family values"....

Recently he stated that Muslims should pray and preach in Italian in the mosques there so that they can be understood by the Italians. Funnily enough, he had nothing to say when the Pope reintroduced the mass in Latin, a language that fewer people in Italy understand as compared with Arabic.
