Crazy surrealism

Italy is going through a recession and an emergency government to try to rescue the country and the Euro after 17 years of good government by Berlusconi and his right wing allies.

The crisis was known since years but according to Berlusconi, three years ago, and subsequently, it was just an invention of the journalists. There was no crisis in Italy and in fact Italy had come out of the International crisis better and faster than any other country and that the Italians were better off than before the so-called crisis (1). In the meantime the debt was growing....

Two weeks ago, after he had to surrender his premiership due to the crisis he stated that Italy was fine, since restaurants and planes were full...possibly the restaurants for billionaires he goes to....

A couple of days ago, in Marseille, he stated that "financially, Italy is the most solid country in Europe after Germany, before Sweden, France and the UK. We are faced with an indebted state and affluent citizen."

Surrealism was a creative art movement, Berlusconi destroyed Italy. He is simply crazy. And those who support him, even worse, desperate mental cases.

And the third day.....

As an Italian comic, Fiorello, said yesterday, "get reassured, it is only the second day after his resignation, on the third he will resuscitate".

Looking at the spread for the Italian Treasury Bonds today and at the stock exchange, one wonders whether Fiorello was not right. In fact, Berlusconi never died, just went into a comatose state and will continue to negatively influence Italy.

As of now, many of us doubt Italy will resurrect soon.

What's happening in Italy is exactly what happens when a long reigning dictator goes. The mess and the need for a lot of time to recover. But markets may not wait.

Hard times facing Italy, thanks to Berlusconi and his bunch of crooks.

A newspapers' invention: the crisis

Towards the end of 2008, I reported the statements of Berlusconi: “the crisis is over, it was just a newspapers’ invention, we are better than before”.

One year later, Italy has 700,000 more jobless people, the unemployment rate (including those who receive “cassa integrazione”, a sort of compensation for closed companies) is above 10%, the Italian debt is over 120% of the GDP, both the industrialists and the trade unions state that the worse is still to come, all projections show Italy’s growth in 2010 much below the European average.

But all this is invented by newspapers and the ineffable Minister of Economy, Tremonti (the one who was proclaiming that is we had a one € bill instead of coins, inflation would be reduced) will maintain that the economists do not understand anything and should shut up (sic).

If Berlusconi did manage his companies as he does with Italy, he would no longer be the richest man in the country !

Proud of being Italian

I have just being told by Mr Berlusconi that the Italian government he leads has been the one that best dealt with the financial crisis. This confirms what he said a few months ago that we, in Italy, were now doing better than before the crisis. What a relief.........

Surrealism

The Italian GDP had a negative growth rate of 4.9% during the first quarter of 2009. The number of workers on technical unemployment (with subsidies) has increased of about 50%. The president of the indistrialists association talks about crisis and recession. Sales of cars have dropped by 35%during the last month. Sales of houses has dropped 15%. What is all this ?

People all over the world say that there is a crisis but not Mr. Berlusconi. For him, the crisis is a psycological perception, it does not exist de facto, it is the journalists fault.

"I believe that the worst is behind us", he said yesteraday, "there was a deluge, he added, but then everything came back as before, better than before". Ans, he claims that his goverb+nment did all what was required: however just yesterday, world financial statistics showed that Italy invested 1/10 (0.2& of theGDP) of what on average the world invested to address the crisis.

And the stupid Italians will still vote for him.....
