A FOREIGN MINISTER FOR "AFFAIRS"

There is a an Italian minister,Franco Frattini, with a suave voice, who used to be an extreme left militant, writing on the daily Il Manifesto (left of the Communist Party), and who is now one of the strongest supporters of his boss, Mr. Berlusconi. He is a catholic activist (never missing a Holy Mass in Parliament). He has two medals: one from an little known Ordine Costantiniano di San Giorgio whose purpose is the honouring of the Crucifix, the expansion of the Catholic faith and the defense of the Church; the other one from the Vatican itself for "special services provided to the Pope".

He spent some time as EU commissary but, when he left to join Berlusconi again, nobody cried.

He recently stated, with his suave voice, that the "affairs" of his boss are a matter of concern of some Italians only. Never, during his trips, his colleagues mantion anything about the so called affairs to him. Either he has not yet understood the language and hypocritical traditions of diplomacy or he is dumd or he is a liar, or all of them at the same time.

A few days after his declaration, his boss himself complained with some of his advisors that his colleagues in Europe seem to avoid him. And just today we read what US ambassadors to Italy wrote about him (thanks Fod we have Wikileaks) ;

«His frequent blunders and poor choice of words has offended practically every category of Italian citizens and many European leaders... He has damaged the image of the country in Europe and brought ridicule to Italy's reputation in many sectors of the American government". Berlussconi "has become the symbol of the incapacity and ineffectiveness of Italian governments to meet the country's chronic problems: a noncompetitive economic system, decaying infrastructure, growing debt, endemic corruption". (both quitations are from Ambassador Spogli. In many cables from the US Embassy in Rome, Ambassadors quote a militant who had said "Berlusconi tends to make blunders and is a bit of a clown".

But Mr. Frattini ignores all this and tries to convince us that all is OK thanks to Mr. Berlusconi.

CORRUPTION

So, as I had foreseen a few days ago, Berlusconi made it. The non confidence motion was barely rejected but it was.

This because of a handful of people, five to six, who suddenly were on his side. Corruption stories had been going around for some time with real stories to the point that there are two justice inquiries.

Nothing would stop his "clients":

not the Wikileaks disclosed cables by US Ambassadors, a Republican and a Democrat, showing the US concerns about Berlusconi's affairs with Putin. He constantly states that he is the most anticommunist in Italy but his best friend is Putin the KGB former chief.....

not the Wikileaks released cables showing that the US was concerned about his statements undermining Nato's policies ;

not the Wikileaks released cables showing that the US was concerned about his undermining the western strategy to be less dependent from Russia concerning energy supplies;

not the Wikileaks released cables showing that the US envoys considered him incapable of leading the country;

not the well known affairs with prostitutes paid 5000 to 10,000€ per night;

not the Wikileaks released cables showing that the US envoys considered that he was using his Minister for communications, a certain Romani, to limit the development of Internet in Italy, already lagging behind the rest of Europe, to protect his television networks;

not the knowledge that soon 600,000 workers will have no income as of January due to the end of unemployment benefits;

not the fact that in spite of his statements, the garbage crisis in Naples had not been solved in spite of his statements;

not the fact that the earthquake victims in l'Aquila protest more and more due to the non reconstruction of their city, in spite of his statements.

No his clients, afraid of losing their privileges due to new elections, would accept anything. Ideologies, ethics, honesty are unknown to his followers. This is Berlusconi's Italy, the country he destroyed with corruption, the country he runs with the Mafia indicted allies, the country he controls through the control he exercises on the media.

But the street showed today what the real country thinks of him and his allies. And it is only the beginning. Sad times, a very dangerous future for Italy.

Italy is no longer a democracy, it is like Zimbabwe, Senegal, Lybia, a dictatorship.

Nobody can predict what will happen, but it will not be nice.

The Vatican and the foreign languages

We learn from Wikileaks that the Vgtican is weakened by the poor knowledge of English of many prelates and the fact that there seems to be only one person using the blackberry.

The real decadence. The language mostly spoken seems to be the Italian but in Europe this language is losing weight: the EY^U refused to include it among the languages for filing patents. Only English, normal, French, who else apart from France and Belgium speack such language, and German, the languiage on the principal patents applications source.

However the US diplomats forgot that Latin is the official language of the church...how many US diplomats can undertake a conversation in Latin ? and does the Blòackberry have a Latin dictionnary ?

Finally, the non usage of the Blackberry, with its servers in Canada open to intrusion by the CIA and the FBI (this is known and it is official) may still mean that in the Vatican they know how to preserve secrets. Certainly bettere than the US Army and Department of State....

THE WORLD UPSIDE DOWN

Putin, that famous democrat, so defined by Berlusconi, comes up to the rescue of Assange criticizing his arrest and declaring the latter's arrest as antidemocratic. Of course, in Ryssia they would not have arrested Assange, just executed him in the streets. That's democracy.

We are now waiting for Berlusconi to offer political asylum to Assange... so that he can be deported to Guantanamo, as per good Italian and US traditions.

Prostitute and idiot

Italian Foreign Minister Frattini who says that the messages published by WIKILEAKS reflect only the views of individual diplomats and not those of the US government.

Idiotic to think that people would believe him....

WIKILEAKS : what's new ?

The only new thing is that we discover that US diplomats are not as dull as they seem, maintain their independence and inform the US government correctly. But what we learn is nothing new.

What is the surprise in learning that they consider Putin a mafioso ? or Berlusconi an idiot ? or Ban Ali another mafioso ? all known stuff.

And what is the fuss about what the US diplòomats say when we all know about the fact that the US access emails, sms and phone conversations all aroundthe world ?
